Liver & Lights No.s 63 & 64

 English Road Movies  Vols 5 & 6

Liver & Lights No. 63  A Lenzie of the Soul

Liver & Lights.No. 64 Kilfuckingmarnock

A few years ago I published a series

of miniature books that

celebrated  some of my deliciously

small scale adventures on

British  public transport.

These were Road Movies so small they

weren’t even films at all but

very hand made books with wonky

bindings and  gluey thumb-prints

and rubber stamped

illuminations…

adventures in Brixton, Bromley South,

Kings Cross and Penge……

I have seen fit  to add a

further two volumes to this series,

being Road Movies that  dont actually even

involve any moving at all……….

Liver & Lights No. 63

A Lenzie of the Soul

My mum lived in the

Glasgow satelite townlet of Lenzie

for  40 years, right next door

to the railway station that would have

carried her into the exciting metropolis

of Glasgow in 9 minutes flat.

Terrified by the very rumour  of the

jagged rock tunnel that lay in wait

before any train  could emerge

  into Queen Street and crippled

by claustrophobia,

never once did she set foot on that platform,

 leaving her trapped

in a 'Lenzie of the Soul’.

 Lavishly illustrated with

some new drawings and

some fragments of my mothers life…

Liver & Lights.No. 64

Killfuckingmarnock.

…is a commemoration of  British

Saturday evenings

watching the burbling teleprinter  spraying forth

the football results

whilst we hungry kids awaited  our tea

and the coming of Dr Who.

Oh, how were ‘transported’  to all those

mysterious  placenames

where the beautiful game was played,

The Thistley Particks,

the howling Rovers of Raith and,

as my dad always amusingly pronounced it,

Kilfuckingmarnock!

Lovingly illustrated with 8 new

rubber stamp prints. Eat Killy Pie!

I have made 50   copies of each Book.

When they are gone, they are gone.

They are  £15.00  including P&P

Cressingham Gardens estate

above the western corner of Brockwell Park

was built between  1967 and 1979 to the designs of

Lambeth Borough Architects, l

ed by Edward Hollamby.

It is impressive for the quality of the accommodation

and layout, and for its striking landscape setting.

it has extensive Gardens and

a magical community spirit and is a

rare example of corporate sensitivity with

regard to human scale housing in an urban setting.

The estate is currently under threat

from proposals by Lambeth Council

to demolish and redevelop the site for profit.
